Anyone who has driven knows of the potential of being involved in a motor vehicle crash. Many drivers who are on the road during the early morning hours are often at risk of falling victim to fatigue. Unfortunately, police can often confuse symptoms of fatigue and the aftereffects of an accident with signs of intoxication. In fact, a man in Roanoke was recently arrested for drunk driving.
The incident that led to the man's arrest reportedly happened during the early morning hours of a day in mid-April. Police claim that the 25-year-old man was headed south when his vehicle left the roadway. It then struck a guardrail.
Following the collision with the guardrail, the vehicle reportedly flipped over, landing in a ravine with what reports describe as a 10-foot embankment. Though police say that the man suffered minor injuries, he was not transported to the hospital. He has since been arrested on charges of driving on a revoked license and driving under the influence.
Because it is easy to make assumptions, police may assume that the man was under the influence of alcohol due to the time of day the accident occurred even if there is not sufficient evidence to support this claim. Unfortunately, many people in Roanoke arrested for drunk driving are unsure how to respond to the allegations against them. As a result, they may choose to seek guidance from an attorney who has experience with such cases, ensuring that they are fully prepared to make the necessary decisions that face them and potentially helping to reduce some of the stress often associated with facing criminal charges.
