Virginia man arrested for drunk driving

On Behalf of | Nov 8, 2018 | DUI

There are a variety of different circumstances that drivers face while driving. In fact, some of these may prompt police officers to suspect criminal behavior even though they were perfectly innocuous. For example, a driver may choose to temporarily slow or come to a stop when driving during the early morning hours while there is little to no traffic. Unfortunately, a man in Virginia was recently arrested for drunk driving after a deputy reportedly observed him engaging in such behavior.

The incident happened during the early morning hours of a day in early November. According to reports, a deputy claims he spotted a driver come to a stop before accelerating over the speed limit. He further states that the driver then failed to completely stop at a stop sign.

Though the officer claims he activated his emergency lights and attempted a stop, he states that the driver continued, reaching a high rate of speed. The alleged pursuit is said to have ended when the driver crashed into a traffic sign. Upon extrication, deputies claimed to have detected the smell of alcohol and found opened alcohol containers in the vehicle. The 25-year-old driver was ultimately arrested.

The Virginia man, arrested for drunk driving, now faces multiple charges, including felony-eluding and driving suspended second offense. Despite the allegations against him, it is unclear what his blood alcohol content was at the time of the accident. Now, there are likely multiple decisions that he must make as a result. To help him, he may want an attorney on his side who has experience with such cases.
