Car accidents happen in Virginia for a variety of reasons. Often, the causes are unrelated to felony actions. Unfortunately, a man who has been charged with multiple DUIs is now facing a serious legal situation following his most recent arrest.
The arrest happened on a day in mid-May. According to reports, a police officer was stopped at a traffic light when his vehicle was struck in the rear by a pickup truck. The driver of the truck reportedly fled the scene, prompting the officer to begin a pursuit. Just over a mile away, the pickup truck reportedly struck a second vehicle.
At that time, the 57-year-old male driving the truck was apparently taken into custody. He now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including DUI fourth offense in the past 10 years, hit and run, disregarding or eluding a law enforcement officer, driving on a revoked license and disorderly conduct, among others. The woman driving the third vehicle involved in the accident was transported to the hospital while the police officer says he was only taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Because of the multiple DUIs and other criminal accusations levied against the man, he likely faces a complicated legal situation. Unfortunately, many people in Virginia facing criminal charges have little legal training, making it difficult for them to understand the accusations against them. However, there are experienced professionals who can help. Often, having an attorney on their side ensures that they are fully prepared to make informed decisions about their case.
