Slash and ex-wife settle divorce

On Behalf of | Sep 13, 2018 | Divorce

For many couples, the decision to end their marriage comes only after a great deal of thought and consideration. Unfortunately, the decision to divorce is only the first in a series that must be made before couples in Virginia and across the country can move on with the rest of their lives. In fact, it took Guns & Roses’ guitarist and his ex-wife Perla Ferrar a great deal of negotiation before they were able to come to an agreement on asset distribution.

The agreement that the former couple recently filed reportedly came after months of conflict. As part of the agreement, Slash, real name Saul Hudson, will pay his ex-wife $100,000 each month in spousal support. Additionally, he will pay $39,000, approximately 1.8% of his income, each month in child support.

In addition to the monthly payments, he will also pay over $6.6 million in an equalization payment. The terms of the divorce allow him to keep a collection of over 200 guitars said to be worth $1.92 million. One of the guitars is reportedly worth $375,000. Representatives for Ferrar claim that Slash made $45 million last year alone and was attempting to hide his true worth.

Reports indicate that the recent agreement came after months of “sparring.” While some divorces, especially those involving a great deal of assets, can be contentious in Virginia, they do not all have to be. Couples who are willing to work together in a spirit of compromise can often come to a divorce agreement quickly, allowing both parties to move on with the rest of their lives, saving themselves time and money. An attorney with experience with family law can help a person who is seeking to end his or her marriage fully understand the available options.
