DUI arrest for Virginia deputy sheriff

On Behalf of | Dec 22, 2017 | DUI

One member of law enforcement has reportedly lost his job as a result of a traffic event. The Virginia deputy sheriff is facing drunk driving charges after a woman alleged he punched her in a road rage incident. The DUI arrest resulted in criminal charges, and he was also let go from his employment.

Occurring around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, a woman reported that she was driving when the former officer allegedly pulled out in front of her in traffic. She slammed her brakes and blew the horn as a result. Both vehicles continued down the road until they reached a stop light. At the light, the man allegedly approached the woman’s vehicle and assaulted her through the open window, punching her in the abdomen.

After the assault, the man reportedly drove away, and she contacted law enforcement. The man’s vehicle was spotted, and he was placed under arrest for DUI and assault charges. He reportedly refused the alcohol testing. The passenger in the man’s car was arrested for being drunk in public.

The DUI arrest for this Virginia man has already come with some severe penalties since he lost his job as a result. He will also have his day in court to defend himself against the charges levied at him. Since he likely doesn’t want to lose his driver’s license, or face criminal penalties, he is probably considering his options for defense. Other individuals facing similar charges will likely want to consult with an attorney for help with a strategy in building a strong criminal defense.
