On Behalf of | Oct 10, 2019 | DUI

Anyone who has driven at night likely knows that the lack of visibility can create confusion for those behind the wheel. Unfortunately, it seems that such confusion recently resulted in a man’s arrest in Virginia. He now faces multiple accusations, including that he was drunk driving at the time of the incident.

Reports indicates that the events that led to the man’s arrest — as well as a female passenger — happened around 9:30 p.m. on a day in October. According to police, the 38-year-old man was driving a vehicle containing a 30-year-old female passenger and his 2-year-old daughter. Police claim that the man admitted to consuming alcohol at a winery located near the incident.

The man reportedly stated that he become confused while driving, ultimately resulting in him taking a right turn onto railroad tracks. Police say that both adults appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, with reports indicating that the woman almost dropped the toddler. According to police, they conducted multiple sobriety tests at the scene.

Both adults were taken into custody and now face criminal charges. For many people in Virginia who face criminal accusations, including drunk driving, the process can seem daunting. Those without legal assistance may be unsure of their options and the potential implications of each. Fortunately, there are experienced professionals who can help guide them as they travel through the criminal justice system, ensuring that they have the information they need to make informed decisions, including whether to fight the charges in court or plead guilty in exchange for reduced charges and/or favorable sentencing considerations if they believe that there is sufficient evidence for a conviction.
