Audrina Patridge, estranged husband in child custody dispute

Co-parenting is difficult for people in Virginia and across the country under the best of circumstances. However, when a romantic relationship ends, coming to an agreement regarding the best interests of a child can become even more challenging. When parents are unable to agree, they must often ask a court to intervene with child custody and other decisions.

In addition to the normal complications that can come with co-parenting, parents who work in the spotlight often have additional considerations, and often, any conflict is reported in the news as well. It is this spotlight, in fact, that has Audrina Patridge's estranged husband seeking court intervention. In a recent court filing, he has expressed concerned about Patridge's return to reality television, specifically that she has plans to allow their 2-year-old daughter to appear in an MTV reboot of the show, "The Hills."

In court papers, he claims that being in the public spotlight could have negative consequences for the toddler. He specifically argues that interactions with paparazzi and fans could be dangerous. He claims that his attorney previously sent a letter to Patridge's attorney, requesting that the young girl be excluded from filming but Patridge did not agree.

In addition to an order that would prevent his daughter from being filmed without both parents permission, he is also requesting joint legal and physical child custody. Parents in Virginia also face conflict when it comes to agreeing on the best interests of their child. While some parents are able to come to an agreement on their own, it is often necessary to ask a court to intervene.
